In England on Friday, six protesters who had taken to the track during the British Grand Prix stood trial, according to Motorsportweek.com. Two protesters are in police custody after Friday, while the rest can wait for the verdict at home.
Just before the race weekend in England, it was revealed that an action group was planning to protest during the race. The group managed to get onto the track in the first lap, after which they sat down on the track.
A red flag immediately followed, with Guanyu Zhou's heavy crash also playing a part. The Chinese driver lost control of the car and ended up with his car upside down against the fences. He was lucky not to be seriously injured.
The organisation was shocked by the situation with the protesters. Although the drivers drove past them at a lower speed, it could easily have gone wrong. Eventually, the authorities succeeded in bringing no fewer than six protesters to trial. In the coming months, the trial will continue and it will become clear what punishment is hanging over their heads.
Carlos Sainz was the man celebrating after taking his first win in the sport. He shared the podium with Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton. Charles Leclerc finished fourth, while Max Verstappen had to settle for seventh.
