Yuki Tsunoda’s first qualifying session as a Red Bull Racing driver on home soil didn’t go as hoped. Despite managing to reach Q2, the Japanese driver failed to advance further, ending up slowest in the second session—and even behind Liam Lawson, the very driver he replaced at Red Bull.

Tsunoda out of Q2

Tsunoda will start the Japanese Grand Prix from P15, one position behind Lawson, who now races for Racing Bulls after being moved back down following two disappointing races with Red Bull.

While Max Verstappen comfortably advanced to Q3, Tsunoda will have a difficult challenge ahead starting from the lower midfield, especially with expectations running high at his home race.
