The first two free practice sessions for the
Dutch Grand Prix were very different to what was expected after the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, where
Red Bull Racing dominated.
Ferrari and Mercedes performed strongly, while
Max Verstappen and
Sergio Perez failed to impress.
The Ferrari's set the pace in FP2, but
Lewis Hamilton was hot on their heels. Behind them,
Lando Norris parked his
McLaren between the Mercedes of Hamilton and
George Russell. Verstappen was only on P8, almost seven tenths behind
Charles Leclerc. Perez came no further than twelfth, with a gap of over a second.
