Marcus Ericsson talks about his "extra boost of confidence" he's taking from the Hockenheimring to the Hungaroring this weekend.

Sauber driver Marcus Ericsson finished in P9 last weekend in Germany to record his third points finish of the season.

The mixed and at times tricky conditions didn't put the Swede off adding to his points tally, meaning he now has five to his name at the halfway point of the season.

Ericsson believes the Hungaroring is a very difficult track for the driver and the car but with Sauber's ongoing progress and improvement, he confirms that expectations are higher now than earlier in the season and he's targetting points every weekend for Sauber.

"After a strong race at Hockenheim, I go to Budapest with an extra boost of confidence," Ericsson told The Checkered Flag.

"The team feels positive and we are ready to tackle the last race before summer shutdown.

"The Budapest track is a very technical one. It has a lot of corners, and it is quite intense to drive there - it reminds me of a go-kart track. It is a tough circuit for both driver and the car, however, with the car and good form we have at the moment, we should be able to fight for good results there."

Ericsson admits that the Swedish fans who normally travel in their numbers to Hungary will give him a boost.

"There are a lot of Swedish flags around the track," Ericsson added.

"It always gives me extra motivation, so I look forward to seeing the Swedish fans at Budapest as well. Let's see what is possible."
