Lando Norris came to Spa with a wonderful gesture. The British driver gave one of his racing helmets to the family of Dilano van 't Hoff, who tragically passed away far too young at the Belgian circuit earlier this month.
Van 't Hoff drove in FREC, having previously become F4 champion in Spain. The 18-year-old driver crashed at Spa-Francorchamps after a crash and did not survive his injuries. There is a lot of focus on the safety of motorsport drivers this weekend. In 2019, the racing world lost another driver, F2-driver Anthoine Hubert, after a fatal crash at the same circuit. Formula 1 is paying attention to the topic of safety this weekend, but also commemorates Van 't Hoff and Hubert.
McLaren driver Lando Norris was keen to support the Van 't Hoff family and donated one of his racing helmets to them. The family is very happy with the wonderful gesture and wrote on Instagram:"Thank you Lando, for this beautiful gesture. It means a lot."
