The result of Miami’s City Commission vote will come through today. It will determine whether or not F1 can host a race there.
Liberty Media has always been keen on expanding the sport into America and a race in Miami will fulfil this. Part of the track is expected to run over a bridge.
Chloe Targett-Adams, F1’s director or promoters and business relations, revealed the plans are targeted at providing “economic benefits and commercial opportunities.”
“We’re fortunate to have always had a number of interested cities, countries, promoters getting in touch wanting to know more about F1,” Chloe said.
“There are always a number of factors to consider from a strategic perspective, from the racing angle, location, the weather etc. We’re very much looking at iconic and city-central locations.”
Miami certainly ticks all of the boxes. But Targett-Adams went onto suggest that F1 needs to bypass more obstacles if the vote goes their way today.
