Jack Doohan won the Formula 2 main race in Hungary in convincing fashion. The Australian hardly got into any trouble at the Hungaroring.

Doohan wins in Hungary

Doohan took his fourth Formula 2 victory in Hungary. The son of MotoGP legend Mick Doohan was never in trouble after securing pole on Friday. The pole and victory combined to allow Doohan to climb considerably in the championship.
Behind Doohan, Frederik Vesti did good business for his championship. The Dane did not get beyond ninth place during Saturday's sprint race, but drove to second place on Sunday, though well behind Doohan. However, Vesti's biggest rival in the championship threw away his good position in the closing stages of the race. Theo Pourchaire dropped back to sixth place, losing ground in the title race.
Behind Vesti, Pourchaire's teammate still did everything possible to take second place from the Prema driver. Victor Martins started the race from P2, but had a poorer start where he lost that spot to Vesti. In the closing stages, Martins stepped up the pressure on Vesti, but was unable to pass him.

Tension in F2 championship

Ayumu Iwasa also remains in the battle for the championship. The Japanese driver moved up from sixth on the grid to fourth place. This keeps the Red Bull talent in touch with Vesti and Pourchaire in the title race. The overtaking move on Isack Hadjar was particularly impressive.
Richard Verschoor drove a solid race on behalf of Van Amersfoort Racing. From the twelfth starting spot, the Dutchman still ended up in tenth place, scoring another point in the main race. Before that, Verschoor held off Jehan Daruvala of Dutch MP Motorsport in the closing stages.
