Ferrari have stood out positively this season. The Italian team experienced one of the worst years in their history in 2020, but this season they are back in the top three of the Constructors' Championship. The Italian team shares this place with McLaren.
The performance is to the relief of Mattia Binotto who has the team back on track. "It’s encouraging, because the direction is the right one," he says to Formula One's official website. "We are third in the constructors’ and equal points to McLaren, which again, is showing, somehow in that respect, progress."
It's not enough for Ferrari though, as the team still sees plenty of parts to improve itself. This season, for example, Red Bull Racing is showing the benefits it can bring when a team provides a fast pit stop.
"I always say that a good pit stop is below three seconds to green so as well, the driver leaving the pitlane," explained Binotto. "Maybe three seems a high number but I always say in strategy it’s important to try to be consistent, not only fast. Because if your stop may last four point five, five seconds, or six seconds that puts us in a difficult situation."
