With the 'pink
Mercedes' jokes around the
Racing Point of 2020 still fresh in the memory, official racing authority
FIA have announced they will ban the use of 3D cameras in order to prevent such practices in the future,
Motorsport.com reports
By banning the use of 3D cameras, it will be made impossible for teams to copy parts or whole pieces of other
Formula 1 cars using 3D photos.
"We will still accept individual components being copied in local areas," explains
FIA Head Nikolas Tombazis,
"but we don't want the whole car to be essentially a copy of another car."FIA to judge individual cases
If in the future there are parts of different teams that resemble each other too much, the FIA will evaluate whether there is coincidence or copying.
