The FIA is set to discuss wing mirrors with all of the teams in Hungary after recent developments to the rear view mirrors on cars has prompted safety concerns. Drivers have complained of poor visibility with the changes made.
The designs of wing mirrors for this season as well as the sidepod designs and amount of rake teams are running this year means that vision has become obstructed much more than in previous years.
Motorsport.com revealed that the FIA wrote to teams to inform them that new rules would come into play from the Singapore Grand Prix onwards in relation to FIA mandated wing mirrors and how they are positioned on the car. Incidents such as the one between Carlos Sainz and Sebastian Vettel in Austria have further raised questions as to the safety of the designs used currently.
Not only will safety be discussed but the use of mirrors and support pieces as aerodynamic components will also be a hot topic, with Ferrari's initial halo mirror design ruled illegal but Mercedes' new design given the all clear by the sports rule makers.
