The
FIA has just announced the final starting grid for the
Italian Grand Prix.
Carlos Sainz will start his team
Ferrari's home race from pole. Championship leader
Max Verstappen will start from second and
Charles Leclerc will start from third position.
Carlos Sainz had been fast all weekend and also captured pole position on Saturday. The Spaniard was narrowly faster than Verstappen, the gap was only 13 thousandths.
George Russell cleverly put his Mercedes car alongside Leclerc on the second row of the grid.
Sergio Perez starts from fifth position ahead of
Alexander Albon. The
Williams driver had another tremendously strong qualifying session.
The two
McLaren drivers will start the
Italian Grand Prix seventh and ninth, with
Oscar Piastri ahead of
Lando Norris. The long straights on the Monza circuit do not seem to suit the MCL60 great.
Lewis Hamilton starts between the two McLaren cars from eighth position. Fernando Alonso completes the top ten for Aston Martin.
