There are a handful of grid penalties again this weekend, leading to many shifts in the final starting grid for the
United States Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen will start from pole position, with title rival
Lewis Hamilton next to him in second place.
A five-place penalty after changing his combustion engine means
Valtteri Bottas will start from ninth.
Fernando Alonso,
Sebastian Vettel and
George Russell will all start from the back of the grid after changing engine parts.
Bottas' shift means
Ferrari are well placed with
Charles Leclerc and
Carlos Sainz on P4 and P5. Behind them follow their competitors for the third spot in the constructors' championship, namely the cars of McLaren.
AlphaTauri is also in a surprisingly good position. Both
Pierre Gasly and
Yuki Tsunoda will start in the top ten.
Sergio Perez will start from P3 and could play an important role in the race between Verstappen and Hamilton.
