Pietro Fittipaldi was in discussions with
Haas F1 over the possibility of him testing for the team prior to his crash in the World Endurance Championship in Spa.
Brazilian Fittipaldi, fractured his left leg and broke his right ankle when he crashed his LMP1 car during qualifying for the opening race of the season in Spa.
Fittipaldi is combining his WEC season with selected Indy Car races, and hopes to return to racing in late July.
Haas boss Gunther Steiner confirmed the talks, saying:
"There was nothing set, we were talking about it and then the accident happened,
"He contacted us, I know his grandfather Emerson, they just said, 'Can we do something together?'
"We didn't stop talking after the crash but we stopped talk about a test because we don't know what can be done.
"He's well on the way to getting better. That's the most important thing for me."
