Force India have blamed their engine supplier for the disqualification Esteban Ocon picked up last weekend. The Frenchman was deemed to have used up too much fuel in the race and was therefore disqualified. It was the second fuel related disqualification in the race.
An investigation was started and it became clear Ocon used more than 105kg of fuel. Apparently, this mistake was only possible because the software of Mercedes contained a mistake that allowed an increased intake of fuel.
Sergio Perez, the other Force India driver changed the settings on his steering wheel to prevent this from happening. The software calculated the wrong amount of fuel used. Therefore, when he finished the Grands Prix, he'd used more than he had expected.
