Mika Salo, a former driver who raced in
Formula 1 in the '90s and '00s, tells
Sebastian Vettel to stop "immediately" if he has lost the right feeling. Salo, who competed in 111 Grands Prix some of which for
Ferrari, believes his fellow countryman
Kimi Raikkonen should return to
Ferrari if Vettel leaves.
In the week after the
British Grand Prix, four-time world champion Vettel faced more criticism than ever before. There are strong rumours that Vettel has lost motivation, and Salo says if this is the case, he should stop racing now.
“If you lose the right feeling for this, you must stop immediately. You could say that this is the case in the way he is currently driving," Salo told Finnish newspaper
Ilta Sanomat. “Kimi's career is already coming to an end and he seems to be happy to race at Alfa Romeo without pressure. Kimi drives exactly like the experienced driver that the team needs. He cannot win but does get as many points as possible. At Ferrari, the dedication you need is of a completely different level."
