The French Grand Prix organiser wants even more people next year for the event, despite traffic chaos last weekend.
Paul Ricard last weekend marked the return of the French GP for the first time in 10 years.
The build-up however, was marred by traffic issues in and out of the circuit.
Christain Estrosi, president of French GP organiser GIG Grand Prix de France, insisted every person who bought a ticket to the race, attended the race.
Estrosi claimed organisers could verify that "all 65,000 people who booked today were here, all 25,000 people who had a parking space were here".
"If I look at all those who might have said that on Friday, there were 30,000 of them - 40,000 of them came on the next day and 65,000 today," Estrosi said on Sunday to Autosport.
"In the end, it completely refutes what you're claiming.
"So the question we must ask next year is: do we need to aim for 65,000 or 80,000?
"I'm convinced we need to aim for more next year.
"All viewers, if you check out social media, said, 'We were unsure about coming, next year we'll come'."
F1 sporting boss Ross Brawn has said that his company will work with the promoter to address some of these problems.
