The first free practice for the
Mexican Grand Prix is over.
Carlos Sainz and
Charles Leclerc finished on top for
Ferrari, while
Red Bull Racing had to make do with a P3 and P4.
Max Verstappen was not satisfied with the grip on the Mexico City circuit. The Dutchman made several off-track trips and spun on his fast lap. So
Red Bull Racing still has work to do to improve the car, but the second free practice will again be dominated by the Pirelli tyre test.
At
Ferrari, the session went better. Leclerc started FP1 with a flat tyre, but after that, there were no more problems for the Italian team.
Lewis Hamilton managed to record fifth place, while
George Russell failed to make the top 10. Three of the five rookies who competed in FP1 ended the session with problems. Liam Lawson, Pietro Fittipaldi and Jack Doohan all three had to end their session early.
