Toro Rosso's
Pierre Gasly has admitted that it will be tough for his team to keep Force India behind them in the constructors' championship, with the
Pink Panthers picking up eighteen points in Spa.
Force India, of course, were set back to zero points after the team went into administration and had to change names after their change of ownership. The team did very well in their first race, though, picking up P5 and P6 at Spa Francorchamps, earning them ten and eight points respectively.
Toro Rosso are now just twelve points in front of them, with eight races to go. Gasly admits that Toro Rosso might struggle to keep Force India at bay over such a long period, especially after what we've just seen at Spa.
"Well looking at how many points they scored today they will be tough as well," the Frenchman told RaceFans.
"If they do the same in Monza they’re going to overtake us already after two races.
"Clearly it will be important for the team to keep them behind.
"Once we pass Monza the coming tracks after that will suit our car a bit better, so I think probably we will be able to fight with them a bit more.
"It will be important to try to keep them behind but I mean in Monza they’re going to score points obviously if everything goes well.
"After that it will be important to keep them behind on the next tracks."
