Kimi Raikkonen is assured of a seat at
Alfa Romeo next season but
Antonio Giovinazzi's place is still up in the air even if the Italian is confident of his place in the pinnacle of motorsport next season.
Giovinazzi returned to
Formula 1 having raced for Sauber in 2017 but has failed to set the world alight with his best result of P9 at his home
Italian Grand Prix, being his standout moment.
Giovinazzi's place is one of the only seats still up for grabs but the Italian is widely expected to keep his seat. Giovinazzi is confident of keeping his seat as long as he keeps up his results.
"News about the situation, I don't have that yet," Giovinazzi told
Motorsport-Total.com.
"But if I continue to achieve the results I have achieved in the last few races, no one can take this place away from me.
Giovinazzi is confident that his ties to Ferrari will help keep him in a seat for the coming season.
He added: “I have a good relationship with him (Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto) and in Singapore he said that Ferrari always supports me and monitors my progress. As a driver you really need that support: Now it's up to me to do my job as well as possible!”
