AMSTERDAM - eSports driver Floris Wijers will enter a unique partnership with GPblog.com. The 18-year-old already has a lot of records to his name and is already one of the top three competitors in the Netherlands. GPblog will support Floris in his battle to become the new ‘F1 Esports’ champion.
We are very proud of our collaboration with the mega talent Floris Wijers. Now that simulators are becoming increasingly important in Formula 1, Floris embodies the future of motorsport. We are convinced that Floris can compete with the absolute top of eRacing and that this year he will be among the top ten in the world," said Sebastiaan Bakker, co-founder of GPblog.
“Through the collaboration with GPblog I can show my talent to a much larger audience and focus on eRacing and (international) competitions. In addition, I get the opportunity to make a unique contribution to the editorial team of GPblog. In the short term there will be unique content, so check the website and social channels regularly!”, Floris Wijers said.
At the moment, Floris is one of the top three drivers in the Netherlands and last year he beat former F1 driver Robert Doornbos in a live broadcast of the Dutch television show Formula 1 Café. Floris also believes he is ready for an eRace against Red Bull driver Max Verstappen.
“I have more experience than Max with the F1 2017 game. I may not feel the G-forces like he does during a Grand Prix, but in a virtual race, you can race completely different lines. These lines are faster than ‘in real life’. That is why I think I can beat Max Verstappen in a virtual race", said Wijers.
Floris also will have a role within the editorial team of GPblog and will, amongst other things, deal with creating unique video content about eRacing. Expect more articles about eRacing, F1 track guides and reviews on GPblog soon.
