Romain Grosjean claims his Haas car became “undrivable” after parts started to fly off towards the end of the Grand Prix.
Grosjean’s bargeboard flew off whilst on the home straight causing the cars handling to drop.
Grosjean finished the race in 13th, but believes he could have got the car into the points had the issue not occurred.
“If I hadn’t lost my bargeboard I’d have finished potentially seventh or eighth,” said Grosjean.
“That was a problem – losing parts as we’re just running on track.”
Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle expected the black and orange circle flag to appear in the interest of safety.
The forced retirement flag never came out and Grosjean had to pit in order to make his car easier to drive.
“On those two laps, the car was absolutely undrivable.
“We had to pit to remove the part, so that was the end of the story.”
