Daniel Ricciardo expresses his heartbreak after he was forced to retire after just two laps.
The Australian has now retired in 4 of the last 6 races going back to the 2017 season.
Ricciardo explained the incident in a post-race interview: “I lost all power.
“It seemed like a battery electrical problem everything switched off and I couldn’t do anything,
“It’s just the harsh reality of our sport sometimes that rips your heart out.
“I love it and then I hate it.”
Following this disappointment, the red bull team had another heartbreak when Verstappen had to retire.
Ricciardo went on to suggest the start time of the race made it even worse.
“I just felt like we were going to be in with a good chance today,” Daniel said.
“Being out so early in the race is just the worst feeling: especially when it’s a night race and you are up all day waiting for those two hours, and after two minutes it’s over.”
Red Bull started to strip their garage down before the race had reached half distance.
They’ll be desperate for a performance in China, as their drivers lie 7th and 10th in the drivers' championship.
