Romain Grosjean has confirmed he is looking to continue his momentum as F1 rolls into the summer break. He’s finished inside the top 10 twice in the last three races and says he has a “good feeling” heading into Hungary.
Haas struggled in Monaco, and with the Hungaroring having similar characteristics, many are expecting the Haas car to struggle. However, team principal Guenther Steiner said yesterday he expects the upgrades will remove any problems.
His French driver is on the same page and wants to add to his fond memories at the track. He told F1i: “I’ve always had a good feeling in Hungary. I’ve always liked the track. It used to be very bumpy, but they resurfaced two years ago.
“I’ve had some great races at the Hungaroring. I had my first pole position in GP2 there in 2008. I had some good races after that in GP2. I also qualified on the front row of the Hungarian Grand Prix back in 2012.”
Grosjean sat pointless in the constructors' championship for the first eight rounds of the season. He’s now up to 13th place and ready to attack Carlos Sainz following a well-rested summer break.
“I think it’s [summer break] going to be important for everyone,” Grosjean added. “That first triple-header was quite challenging, so I think everyone is quite happy to god holiday.”
