Charlie Whiting has confirmed the FIA are still happy with the hybrid system as rival teams continue to speculate. With performances in the Haas and Sauber car suddenly increasing, as well as
Ferrari themselves, questions have been raised.
Whiting says the FIA stand by their decision at Monaco that Ferrari were doing nothing wrong. Nico Hulkenberg has been one of the drivers to question to the sudden improvement of Renault rivals Haas.
“Something is going on there, it’s not normal. Since a couple of weekends, since France I think, all Ferrari-powered cars have a lot of power all at once,” Hulkenberg said.
Meanwhile, Hulkenberg’s boss Cyril Abiteboul aggress they are doing something “strange” but he says it doesn’t mean it is illegal.
“Clearly we are scratching our heads, because we look in particular at the GPS profile, and we see indeed that it's really strange what they are doing.
"But doing something strange doesn't mean that it's illegal. I think we must give credit to what they have done,” Abitboul told Motorsport.
In Hockenheim discussions took place and Whiting revealed the FIA see nothing wrong.
“We are entirely satisfied with everything on that front, as we said in Monaco," said Whiting.
"Some teams have been asking further questions and we were just there to try and help them have some peace if you like."
