Romain Grosjean has hailed the exciting fight in the midfield so far this year. The Haas driver said he is pleased that there is such a high level of competition in F1 even if it isn't for the podium places.
The Haas driver might still be on 0 points so far in 2018 but the Haas car has been a revelation, even prompting some to describe it as a "Ferrari clone" due to its similarities with the Scuderia's 2017 car.
Grosjean said he was delighted that the midfield fight was so close and as unpredictable as it has been so far.
"One race it’s the Renault that’s the fastest, the next one it’s a Toro Rosso, another race it’s the Haas or maybe the McLaren," he
said.
"That makes it super exciting. We need to get everything super right, down to the last tenths of a second, to be qualifying in front of the others and race from there. It’s pretty exciting.
"Obviously, the front is a different situation," he added. "There’s a nice battle at the front, then there’s quite a significant gap, then there’s the midfield battle."
The Frenchman was hopeful when asked if his team could cement their place as best of the rest in the F1 field.
“I’m hoping so. We’re working on that. If we do achieve that at the end of the season, it would be amazing."
