Romain Grosjean will miss FP2 after his car is set to undertake a chassis change after the damage caused by his crash in FP1.
Grosjean hit a bump after failing to close the DRS on the run into turn one, forcing his car into a slide, across the gravel and into the barrier, wrecking the front left of his Haas.
Grosjean set the seventh fastest time in FP1 despite the shunt which ended his session in a continuation of his recent return to form.
The Frenchman had gone the first eight races without picking up a single point but bounced back well at the Red Bull Ring in Austria to take P4 and a well-deserved end to his worst points drought since 2014.
Haas team principal Gunther Steiner confirmed the bad news: “We need to change the chassis, so he will not be going out in FP2. Simple as this. We had some damage and he will not make FP2.
“We are now back to a normal day in the office, one car needing to change chassis and the other one seeing the stewards. We are just getting normal now again.”
Kevin Magnussen is being seen by the stewards in relation to an incident in the first sector of the lap, where the Dane looked as if he cut off Fernando Alonso’s McLaren aggressively.
