Haas team boss Guenther Steiner is engaged in an exciting battle in the midfield with his team. The Americans are currently seventh in the constructors' championship. According to Steiner, points count more than ever this season, he told Speedcafe.com.

The Italian American can be moderately satisfied with his racing stable's start to the season. Thanks to a 10th-place finish for Kevin Magnussen in Jeddah and a seventh-place finish for Nico Hulkenberg in Melbourne, Haas is seventh in the constructors' championship. On a good day, the black and white Haas car could be fighting for points. And those are more important than ever, Steiner believes.

'First eight spots often already divided'

As the top four currently have a reasonable margin compared to the midfield, it will be picking up points for the rest of the field: "In theory, the first eight places are taken how it is now and then there is only ninth and 10th which is two points at one point. It can carry a lot of weight, that point. f you’ve got one very good result, like finishing fifth or sixth in a race, that moves you up quite a lot pretty quick this year.”
