Lewis Hamilton claims Mercedes to not need rain in order to win the Hungarian Grand Prix tomorrow. Mercedes have a front-row lockout for the start of the race.
Rain hit hard during qualifying earlier this afternoon levelling the competition for the German team. Ferrari and Red Bull dominated practice over the past two days and are expected to be fastest in the dry race tomorrow.
But Hamilton has other ideas. He believes he and Valtteri Bottas can keep the competition behind them.
"I don’t think we need the rain tomorrow,” he said in an interview on race fans.
“For a track that’s usually been so good to me and worked so well for me, it’s not been really been the strongest for me the last couple of years, this year and last year.
“Even this weekend when it’s been dry Valtteri [Bottas] has been quicker than me all weekend, I’ve been struggling with the set-up and the feel with these tyres.”
After warning fans they might witness a boring Grand Prix, the Brit now explains how anything could happen.
“It’s going to be close. I can’t really tell you what’s going to happen. Just got to get our heads down and try to pull away," Hamilton added.
