Both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell crashed in Q3 today in a similar fashion, with the duo losing the rear of their car in turn's 7 and 10. Hamilton is unhappy with the fact he crashed after it looked like a potential front-row finish was on the cards.
"I’m incredibly disappointed in myself ultimately, and I'm so sorry to the team," he told Sky Sports, "everyone worked so hard to put the car together and I never like to bring it back damaged."
The Brit then furthered his frustration by adding that a top-three finish was potentially there to be taken: "We were fighting for the top-three I think and I don’t have an answer for it, I just lost the back end in turn 7 and that was that."
The seven-time World Champion will start from P10 tomorrow in the Sprint but will look to move up the grid and claim a higher starting position in the race on Sunday, which is achievable in the Brit's mind. He finished by saying, "I’m encouraged for sure, of course after that performance, we weren’t expecting to be as close as that today, so that’s a huge positive from the team. I’m quite far back so I don’t know what’s possible from there but we’ve got the Sprint race as well, so tomorrow I hope we can make up some lost time.”
We all knew the return serve from Max after the apex jibe Lewis made at Silverstone would rattle him and look what happened. Another sign of Lewis's week resilience to criticism and will only get worse. Brought it upon himself. LOL
Fair and valid points on here as always. What a bunch of whoppers.
I guess Lewis has more work to do to find the apex, hopefully he'll get it before he turns 40. Keep trying Sir, don't give up
What's the story with you Dutch fans, are you into witchcraft or something? Blowing some Orange gas into the air, next thing both Mercedes cars into the barriers? Sad for us Merc fans, but incredible stuff indeed, lol.
Did he crash with 51G’s, otherwise he should not complain …. S*ssy Princess ! Did you hear the Dutch fans over there in the UK? You reap what you sow !!
but we're not disappointed , we knew all along how good you really are without a + 1 sec faster car . nothing surprising here same as last year , pressure is too much for L
Clear mistake but it happens to everyone at times. It definitely leaves him wondering "what if" because Mercs pace seemed to be right up there with the Top 2 teams.
Alonso would have 1 word for all this, after Hamilton Silverstone comments.
Happens to all drivers at times. Just unfortunate for Mercedes that George lost it as well. Both were looking competitive. I still think it was Max and Charles 1-2, but Lewis or George could have easily been 3-4.
No i don’t think so MB team always win together MB team always lose together And today: MB team crash together
No , MB team never makes mistakes nor Lewis. The only driver in history who did not make any single mistake while racing. ( Source - british media, Damon Hill, Martin Brundle etc. )
Fair comment Lewis. Nothing more to add, really. Bad day at the office....
Since 2017 if I remember correctly, Lewis was quick thou very encouraging.

@F1KoolFan +544808-07-2022 18:13 Well hopefully for them because the alternative is their rear breaking out uncontrollably at some angle/speed etc. That would be more troublesome because it increases the changes of an repeat.
At least he pushed himself. Thats better than relying on only the car to get you wins. He did try hard and that has not happened in a while. He should be given credit for that effort.
