Lewis Hamilton has confirmed Mercedes' priority now is to improve their Qualifying form in the upcoming races, due to the gains that Ferrari have made in recent races.
Mercedes have a 6-5 advantage on Ferrari in the pole table - with Hamilton taking five of the 6 for Mercedes.
Hamilton admits that if the Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying had have been dry, then Vettel would have gotten pole position and "possibly gone into the distance".
"For some reason, the race is really our main strength," Hamilton told Autosport.
"The current work and focus is making sure we improve qualifying.
"We've had five poles out of twelve races, which is good but could be better.
"That's where we need to hit it with these guys because I think in the race we can generally hold our own."
Following Friday's practice sessions, Ferrari and Red Bull were on top and Hamilton admits that he feared defeat following those sessions, where his Mercedes team really struggled.
"For some reason I guess I switch into a different mode on Sunday," Hamilton added.
"It was definitely a bit of a surprise. I'm really proud of all the team for keeping up the pace even though these guys turned up the heat the last few races. To come away with two wins is a testament to the strength in depth of our team."
