One of racing's hottest prospects,
Lando Norris has revealed that he has an open mind in regards to where the young Brit will end up.
McLaren junior driver Lando Norris admits he remains open minded about his future as he looks to jump up to Formula One.
Norris says that a full-time race seat with McLaren is the "perfect situation", though.
The 18-year-old was helping McLaren recently in the Hungary testing, as he looks to replace one of Stoffel Vandoorne or Fernando Alonso for next season's seat.
Vandoorne has been struggling this season and his future looks uncertain.
As does Alonso's, whose focus may be switched to Indy 500 - as he looks to complete the 'triple crown' (Monaco Grand Prix, Le Mans 24 hours and Indy 500).
McLaren earlier this season rejected an approach from Toro Rosso for Norris.
"It's very difficult to say, especially being in the situation we are right now with no-one really knowing what Fernando wants to do next year," Norris told Crash.net.
"Obviously it'd be very nice to be in Formula One, but at the same time staying with McLaren, maybe it's better to be saying 'I want to be doing these FP1s, have more opportunities to drive in Formula 1', if there is confirmation that I might be offered a seat in 2020, maybe that's a better situation to be in.
"Until everyone starts making decisions, I don't really know what to say."
Norris was asked about Toro Rosso's interest in him and if he could see himself making a move to the side.
"Of course I could see it, I would like to see it, that I could just be in Formula 1," Norris admitted.
"But I don't think that's still the way to go.
"I think ideally I'd be with McLaren next year. That's the perfect situation, but it's not up for me to decide, it's up to the bosses and Fernando and whoever makes all of the decisions."
