Lewis Hamilton has insisted that
Mercedes will take the fight to
Ferrari after the Scuderia locked down the front row with
Charles Leclerc sitting on pole ahead of the
Bahrain Grand Prix.
Mercedes were considerably slower than their Ferrari counterparts and it showed as they qualified third and fourth with Leclerc 0.324 seconds than third place Hamilton. Leclerc has been the pacesetter for most of the weekend and he was comfortably ahead of his teammate
Vettel.
Following qualifying defending champion, Hamilton recognised Leclerc’s achievement but vowed to give them a “great fight”.
“I really enjoyed qualifying and great to see the progression for us over the weekend,” said Hamilton.
“The Ferraris were very quick and congratulations to Charles.
“Tomorrow is the important day and we will give them a great fight.”
After a dominant Australian Grand Prix for Mercedes which saw Mercedes on the front row, this will come as a bit of a reality check with the roles reversed but Hamilton insists the team will get back to work.
“We are going to work at it and keep our heads down and see what happens,” added the Brit.
