McLaren hoped prior to the season that it could compete for prizes in 2022. After a disappointing start to the season, however, the stable had to work its way up. The third place for Lando Norris in Imola is hopeful for the upcoming races, as does Emerson Fittipaldi.

Partly due to brake problems, which came to light during the winter tests in Barcelona and Bahrain, McLaren failed to meet expectations for quite some time. However, the team worked hard behind the scenes and even managed to finish sixth in the world championship with Norris in the meantime.

Fittipaldi has faith in Norris

Although Daniel Ricciardo is still searching for the ideal form, Fittipaldi thinks McLaren has the right form and will continue to develop in the coming Grands Prix. With the races in Miami and Barcelona approaching, it looks like there could be some great weeks ahead for McLaren, he states in conversation with Vegainsider.com.

"I think McLaren will be more and more competitive at every new grand prix. I would say after Monaco, they should be extremely competitive. This is my personal opinion," said Fittipaldi, who expects a lot from Norris. "He is driving really well. On the wet he's fast. Always very fast. He's consistent."
