After Red Bull Racing recently announced that they'll be teaming up with Honda for the next two seasons as their engine parts, the Japanese car maker has said that they'll fully shift their focus on next year's engine after July.

It was somewhat unexpected from Red Bull to choose Honda as their future engine partner over Renault, who they have teamed up with for the past twelve years (including eight titles across the two championships).

Now, it's time for a new era. Well, for 2019 and 2020 anyway.

"In Canada, we introduced our new power unit for Toro Rosso," Honda motorsports boss Masashi Yamamoto told Formula1.

"Until July, we'll develop that engine further.

"After that, we'll focus on the 2019 power unit."

Some worrying signs for both Honda and Red Bull were that both Brendon Hartley and Pierre Gasly had some form of technical issues last weekend in France. Honda are currently working overtime to resolve those issues on the short-term.
