Alexander Albon started his time at
Red Bull Racing well last year as a replacement for
Pierre Gasly, but has been under pressure since this season. The gap to
Max Verstappen does not seem to be closing. The podium finish in Mugello relieved some pressure, but more is expected.
A well-deserved podium, at least that's what team boss
Christian Horner thinks, who was impressed by the way Albon passed former Red Bull driver
Daniel Ricciardo with ease. Before Mugello, Albon's confidence was at a low and Horner believes the media are partly to blame.
Trust is crucial in Albon's development
"He only feels vulnerable because you [the media] keep telling him every week that we should put someone else in the car. He has the full support of the team. I think the team is doing a good job with him, I think his racing engineer is getting more out of him and I think confidence is growing," Horner told The Race.
