Red Bull Racing had a successful qualifying session in Abu Dhabi. While
Max Verstappen's performance was good for pole position,
Sergio Perez managed to secure second starting position. It gave
Christian Horner a nice feeling, he told in
Red Bull's press release.
"We are tremendously happy with the performance as it gives us an opportunity to end our most successful season in the best possible way," explained the Austrian formation's team boss. "Max secured the 20th pole position of his career with a stellar last lap."
However, according to Horner, Verstappen also played an important role in Perez's second-place finish. "On top of that, he gave Checo the tow in the second sector to help him secure the second grid slot - locking out the front row for the Team." Horner can therefore be nothing but very satisfied. "We couldn't have asked for a better Saturday."
Perez in battle with Leclerc
For Perez to secure second place in the drivers' championship on Sunday, the driver must finish ahead of
Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque will start from third position in Abu Dhabi, so he will try to get past Perez straight away at the start.
