Pierre Gasly was ill during the Mexican Grand Prix weekend but the Toro Rosso driver believes that it was his attitude that saw him pull through and secure 9th place during the race.

"Now I just have to rest!" Gasly said to Motorsport-total.com.

"Considering the strategy and the tire we started on, we could not ask for anything more, especially since we finished 30 seconds behind Daniel [Ricciardo] with the rest of the pit stop, I do not think so that we could have done it better.

"But that was probably one of those races in which you want to start as a midfield team more on P11, like Perez, than on P10 with the soft tire," he said.

"I felt really good on the hard tire after that, I asked the team to try a stop, but they did not want that, so we made two stops."

Gasly also thinks he lost time when he raced Carlos Sainz, "I lost six or seven seconds, that was not ideal."

The Toto Rossos were fast all weekend and will hope to build on their pace for the remaining few races of the calendar.
