Max Verstappen spun during Q1 in Bahrain and put his Red Bull into the barriers.
Nico Hulkenberg doesn't believe Max Verstappen's excuse for his qualifying crash adds up. The Renault driver was perplexed as to how Verstappen's story made sense and questioned whether the Dutchman was telling the truth.
Speaking to Speed Week, The Renault man queried where Verstappen had gotten an extra 150hp and indicated his excuse didn't add up.
"First I'd like to ask where the 150hp comes from. Does he have a party mode, too? I've never experienced anything like this. I'll say it like this: it seems strange to me."
Verstappen put his spin down to a surge in power which resulted in him losing control of his car and spinning into the barriers at turn three during the first qualifying session.
His weekend didn't improve either. Contact with Lewis Hamilton in the opening exchanges of the Bahrain Grand Prix caused him a puncture and differential damage that put him out of the race.
