Mike Krack has claimed that Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll is not satisfied until the team wins a race. Speaking to Formula1.com Krack states that Stroll has made his ambitions clear from the start.
Aston Martin is experiencing a particularly strong season this year. The team, which finished only seventh last year, is currently second and has been on the podium every race of the season. The changes during the winter break and the acquisition of Fernando Alonso have obviously paid off, but according to Krack, it is still not enough for team owner Lawrence Stroll.
"The team's mission is very clear ," Krack said. "Lawrence has not been having any delay in telling us ‘When are we going to win the next one?’ Obviously, he is happy we have made a step, but this is not enough for his ambitions. The good thing with Lawrence is that you know immediately where you stand. He wants more, and we will have to deliver more."
That first win does not seem to be within reach for now. Aston Martin has still had to concede to Red Bull, and in Australia Mercedes was also able to duel better than in previous races. However, the team will come up with several upgrades over the next few races to close the gap to Red Bull.
Wait. What? "The team's mission is very clear ," Krack said. "Lawrence has not been having any delay in telling us ‘When are we going to win the next one?’" By using the word 'next it implies that you have already won a race. I don't believe that Aston Martin, as a team, has ever won any F1 race in the 50+ starts.
Nope, not a believer that Aston has won a race. Looked on the Google and some wooki thing agrees. 52 starts, zero wins and only 4 podiums. Edit: Now I think I get what you said. I can translate that to my dialect... You don't believe real good son. 0 wins.
@Magog - you are correct that Racing Point won a single race. If you go far enough back to when it was Jordan they won 4 races. Other interations were Spyker and Midland who never won a race. That said, Aston Martin, as a team owned by Lawrence Stroll and who was quoted using "we" and "next" has not won a race... "When are we going to win the next one?’" It may be semantics but it's just English, not rocket science.
Jordan won 4 races, thanks for the reminder. I liked Jordan back then. Especially the pin up girls they used to bring to the track. Oops, I guess I'm getting "politically incorrect" for the new world right now ?
Politically correct is not necessarily a bad thing, however, like everything now it's taken to such an extreme it's out of control. Like politics itself
"J41L +314707-04-2023 13:52 "politically incorrect" You can't swing a dead cat without being accused of that these days. Just become an equal opportunity offender and you will be fine.
Humans are never satisfied. For a team finishing in P7 last year and the best race finish in P6, to being on the podium in 3 races already this year, and sitting in P2 in the championship, they should be very happy with their progress. But no. Big boss is still greedy to want to win a race, and after achieving that, they still won't be satisfied and will want to win the championship as well, I suppose?
Nobody remembers 2nd place. Thus, until they take the gold, they wont be happy. With a little luck, they can win a race or 2 this season.
Yeah, but in any competition, there can only be one winner and you have to be realistic in your own performance as to where you will be in the competition. I am sure, Williams will be jumping for joy if they can finish in P7. They know their ability and that would be an improvement from their last few years form. AM was in P7 last season, with the highest race position of P6. Having finished in P3 for all 3 races is already a huge improvement. Be thankful for that!!
Sure there's is only one winner. But one doesn't spend millions in a top notch facility and wind tunnel, hire high grade personnel without having the ambition to win races at some point. RB, Ferrari, MB didn't win races without being ambitious. ?
Okay, Lawrence. You want better results? We are firing your son and hiring a faster driver. ?
Lawrence wants more. My first thought was talent but that's something I don't believe he can achieve beyond mid field level ability.
Someone said if you have to aim, target the sky. But we also need to be realistic. They should concentrate on improving the car and stop focusing on the results.
