Kubica understands doubt but is backed by Lewis Hamilton

Robert Kubica understands why people may have doubts on him returning to Formula 1 but believes that he will prove them wrong.

"If I would be a team principal I would also have doubts," Kubica said to F1i.com.

"This year has been very useful because the first meeting, I remember, I said 'If you have any doubt, we shouldn't be doing it, because in difficult times it's easy to point the finger on my arm – I want to make sure that you are sure that I can do it'.

"First of all I have to be sure that I can do it, that's why I'm here, but second of all the team has to be convinced that I'm able to do a job."

Kubica has proved his doubters wrong in testing and will hope that he will be competitive when he races as well.

2018 world champion Lewis Hamilton has said that "I raced Kubica in karting, so I've known him for a long time. He's one of the most talented drivers I've had the pleasure of racing against."

Kubica's return to top-flight racing has been remarkable. Many fans are looking forward to seeing him return and it is clear that Kubica is confident as he said, "I can do it."
