Lando Norris is starting to make a name for himself in
Formula 1. Where he modestly took his place behind
Carlos Sainz last year, the Brit seems to be able to take the lead in
McLaren as well.
Norris enjoys Orange fans
Prior to the GP of Spain
Olav Mol spoke with the young Briton. The driver of
McLaren is not only loved in England, but also has many followers in the Netherlands. This is probably due to his good relationship with
Max Verstappen, with whom he is racing a lot online.
''All those fans wear Orange. They do say 'Go Max', but deep down they are just McLaren fans'', says Norris in the broadcast of
Ziggo Sport.
''It is difficult to be yourself when you come in Formula 1, but I know more and more what I want to do and of course that makes it a lot easier'', says Norris who will be accompanied by
Daniel Ricciardo next year at McLaren.
Norris wants to maintain qualifying mode
"I'm looking forward to having him as a teammate. I'm very happy with Carlos now, but I think it's good to change teammates so you can learn new things. Ricciardo has already won races anyway and I think that makes him a more complete driver," says Norris.
Where Mol wants to get rid of qualifying mode as soon as possible, Norris also highlights the other side. ''That mode also makes it exciting on Saturday. It may be good for us now, but next year with the Mercedes engine it won't be. If you want different manufacturers in Formula 1 you can't expect that there are no differences," concludes Norris, who is a fan of technology in the sport.
