For Lando Norris, a Grand Prix win at his 110th attempt in his career was something that deserved celebrating, and rightly so. There were photos of the Brit celebrating in the 'Miami-style' with other drivers and friends, as well as playing golf at the Augusta National Golf Club where they host The Masters. As a result, Norris did not get any sleep until the Monday night after his victory. Will that hinder his performance after his win two weeks ok?
There was no Emilia Romagna Grand Prix last year because of the terrible floods that hit the region. However, the F1 action will return to Imola, and it will be the first European race of the season.
For Norris and McLaren, their turn of form since the British Grand Prix last year has been superb, and now they continue to challenge the front of the grid, highlighted by the 24-year-old's win at the Miami International Autodrome. Norris was also involved in some golf action at Augusta, meaning the preparation for the Brit has not been what it usually is.
"I didn't wake up until Tuesday morning," Norris explains. "It was the first time I slept was Monday night. So it was a long couple of days, but it was all worth it. I just had a good night out with some of the drivers and friends and some of the team. I went to see the team. And of course, everyone was having a little drink and having a good time, which I think is definitely allowed and was accepted, so I had a little moment with the team and went to go and see them for a bit.
"I then went to go and have even more fun with some friends and so forth, but not a lot more than that. And I went from there straight to Augusta. I played Augusta for two days, then flew back, and then I scored my best day of golf that I’ve had, which was like even better than the win almost."
It may have been a busy few days for the McLaren driver, but he believes he is still ready for the action this weekend. "I just had a great few days with friends, with family, that kind of thing. And for me, that's as good as it gets. So that was all kind of fun. I don't need to get into any more details than that!"
