Laud Hamilton: 'Bottas is faster than most here'.

In 2020, the Mercedes duo has once again ensured that the team has become world champions. Lewis Hamilton leads the drivers' championship and is followed by his teammate Valtteri Bottas. All the focues and praise is on Hamilton, but he sees things differently and emphasises that Bottas is not getting the honour he deserves.

Bottas still keeps Hamilton sharp

The fact that Hamilton is not already the champion this year is entirely up to Bottas. The Finn is currently 85 points behind the title leader and there is still a maximum of 104 points to be won. It is very unlikely that Bottas will pass Hamilton, but for the time being he is the only one keeping the title race alive.
To Ziggo Sport, Hamilton said: "Valtteri is not getting the credit he's due. He is doing a great job. He is an incredibly fast driver."

Bottas better than most on the track

Hamilton continues: "I think he's better than most of the field here. I'm not just talking about how he drives, but more about his mental attitude and approach. Being a driver is not just about driving, it's not just about practice.
"It's about how you compose, how you bring people around you and how you lift those people to a higher level. He's very good at that."

It's sad that Valteri gets such blame and vitriolic criticism for his inability to stop Lewis from breaking all the records. It's not Valteri's burden to protect F1's records nor his fault he can't beat Lewis over a season, but neither could anybody else in equal machinery. If Alonso couldn't beat Lewis as a rookie in the same machinery, on what basis do some think Maxxy or Leclerc, et al wouldn't get beaten just the same? Has Max proven that he is better than Alonso? No way. The reality is that Lewis is able to raise his game when he needs to. I think it would take Max a few years in the same team to soak up Lewis' knowledge on car set up and racecraft. Much like it took Rosberg. Not to mention Max has not had a single competitive team mate except for Danny Ric with whom he was on equal terms. Either way Lewis has written his name in F1 history for all time and his records won't soon be eclipsed.

Haha..talk about blowing smoke up your own arse!! If Bottas is an incredibly fast driver, what does that make Hamilton - a god, lmfao?? This guy is just too much!! I wish this Toto would put a real 'balls to the wall' driver in the car ,so this clown is exposed for how overrated he is!

You're a straight talker, AmyKelly. Shame you don't take part in our conversations more often, I'd like to know your opinion on other subjects as well.

I am pretty radical with my views ,which tends to be a burden on most forum platforms..

Conceited clown, who makes fun of his "fans" (cheerers) pretending his "wavey" wingmate is a strong driver.
The easiest world championships ever gained, likewise empty numerical all times records, basically obtained comfortably cruising, seating "unchallenged" into the "invincible" car, without any real competitor, since Nico Rosberg departure.
Was Nico Rosberg such a big driver?

Hekate 07 November 2020 at 14:52+ 21351

When Rosberg was fighting with Hamilton, Hamilton never mised the opportunity to insult him in British media. Same situation with Vettel, when he was fighting with Hamilton. Then Vettel stopped being a threat, and suddenly Hamilton was so friendly. Hamilton praising Bottas probably means he thinks Bottas is sh*t.
The problem is, Bottas is fast on a single lap and that's it. His racecraft is poor, he has problems with overtaking, defending his position. This season even his standing starts are quite poor.

Definitely talented in driving, it's hard to decide if Hamilton is really a world champion.
Is he a champion because of his talent, or appears to be, because driving a superior Mercedes and tacking advantage by objective lack of competitors on same car?
Outside car, he's unprincipled smart... to do/say anything worth to add value his results, sometimes behaving slimy and beeing always opportunist.
Bottas is a great driver, a "benchmark"... sure... but a simple Nico Rosberg was enough to challenge Hamilton and threaten the image of the champion.

"but a simple Nico Rosberg was enough to challenge Hamilton and threaten the image of the champion."

Thats right. Being fast alone doesnt make you a championship winning driver. Aggressive mentality, being little cunny r t things required. And that too against Lewis who just acts too smart you have to play all these cards. Bottas is a way far with all these characters. He is too good and nice.
Before arrival of max, charles or george ,i think it was only daniel and rosberg who seemed could have challenged Lewis with same performing car. But after the arrival of these young drivers I think Lewis is always overrated..

mp599:
It's the same situation like years ago with Vettel. The only difference is, Vettel already answered all the questions, beginning with 2014. That's why I agree with sir Jackie and many others: championships won in dominant era don't have the same value as those which were win in competitive field. If Hamilton moved to Renault and win title there, it would be worth more than 20 titles won with Mercedes.

Hekate 07 November 2020 at 18:54+ 21351

Exactly, krishsud.

krishsud 07 November 2020 at 18:23+ 4806

And winning titles in dominant car doesnt decide whether driver is GOAT or greatest. There are lot of factors involved like what was your opposition's strength, how was your num 2 driver performing, what could have been done by a strong opposition driver in same car during that era.. Until then its just you are good or better driver of that era not the greatest or "best ever"..

Bottas is second on the drivers championship at present because he is driving the absolutely best car on the circuit (by a country mile) and he is no where as quick as his team mate. So, logically that is the only position that he can be at. However, if Max or Charles or Daniel or even George were in the Mercedes car, what sort of lap times can we expect to be seeing? How much faster would they be compared to Bottas or how much closer will they be to Hamilton or possibly even how much faster that Hamilton could they be? Questions that we will never know unless they are physically driving the Mercedes.

Some people are just a tinge better than others at motivating.... what shall he gain by putting him down... he knows Bottas is doubting himself after every pole he gives away on track...

Michael Creedon 07 November 2020 at 10:17+ 450

Bottas is better than most, revealing statement. Verstappen would beat Hamilton in equal cars.

McSerb 07 November 2020 at 10:48+ 1729

It`s possible, Hamilton is 36 now, slower reflexes and not so motivated anymore. But if Hamilton were Verstappen`s age he would beat him in equal cars.
