Marc Surer's has harshly criticised
Alexander Albon. That the Thai-Brit cannot keep up with the pace of
Max Verstappen at
Red Bull Racing is clear, but Surer even says that Albon is slowing down the team.
What is Albon still doing at Red Bull?
The former F1 driver, who never finished higher than 13th in the F1 standings, discusses
Red Bull Racing's problems in the constructors' championship in the
Starting Grid podcast. In 2020 it becomes more clear every race that the Austrian team is missing a second strong driver on Sunday.
Surer is devastating in his criticism of the current second driver at Red Bull: "A few races back I said: 'Why is he [Albon, ed.] still at Red Bull? All we know is that there are close ties with Thailand and the team can't throw him out easily".
Albon is rather a handicap for Red Bull
Surer thinks something needs to be done. The Swissman says: "I see him rather as a handicap. If you want to become world champion, you need a second driver who also provides input. Albon does not do that. He always needs help and gives no input".
