Charles Leclerc has insisted he’s not focused on the boost his profile has received since joining
Ferrari from Sauber, instead, he’s fully focused on each race as they come.
Leclerc joined the Scuderia for the 2019 season, replacing
Kimi Raikkonen who moved to
Alfa Romeo. The Monegasque has impressed despite his best finish being P3 in Bahrain after a short circuit denied him a maiden win. Much has been made of
Ferrari’s team orders, which have thrust Leclerc to centre stage.
However, the 21-year-old is fully focused on the job at hand which is improving with each passing race and not the extra popularity that he’s had since his move.
“It’s always very nice to hear compliments from Lewis or from Seb or from the greats of the sport.
“This is very nice to hear but on the other hand I don’t spend too much time thinking about it, just trying to get better every race and focus on the weaknesses on my side, from the last Grand Prix and try to fix them and get better for the next one.”
