Charles Leclerc has pulled another performance out of the bag as he puts his Sauber inside the top 10 for the second time this season. The young man from Monaco has been impressive throughout the season so far.
Once again, the 20-year-old out-qualified his more experienced team-mate Marcus Ericsson. In his interview after the session, he praised the team for their efforts in preparing the car.
"At the end P9 and another Q3, so it feels amazing. This is great for the entire team, and it was a strong effort," Leclerc said in an interview on F1i.
Leclerc turned his focus straight towards the race tomorrow. He faces strong threats from both Renault and Force India. He knows he must continue to work hard if the team are to score more points.
"Now, we must focus on the race, and continue working the same way to have a good finish tomorrow. It's going to be difficult, the track is very aggressive on tyres, so I guess there will be quite a lot of management, but we'll try to make the best out of it and hopefully gain some points," he added.
Getting the Sauber car into its second Q3 is a huge feat. A good result tomorrow and he could be lifting Sauber out of 9th in the constructors' championship.
