With three points finishes (for Sauber!) in his first seven Formula One races, it's safe to say that rookie Charles Leclerc has got the goods, and the Monegasque also admits that he understands the F1 better with each passing day.
Looking back on his weekend in Canada, Leclerc highlighted one moment in the race; when he was under attack from Fernando Alonso. Leclerc had to pull all the stops, but he managed to fend off the Spaniard, who eventually did overtake him, but only because of an undercut in the pit.
"I was definitely trying to hold him off, it's obviously always pretty difficult to have him behind," Leclerc told F1i.
"It was a tricky situation as he was behind but I was also having to save the brakes.
"We managed to keep him behind, then he undercut us with the strategy."
Leclerc went on to talk about his first season in the Formula One. In his first few races, he was definitely still learning the ropes, and got out-qualified by his teammate Marcus Ericsson on two occasions, but the 20-year-old has been stellar ever since.
"Formula 1 is a very complex environment, and week after week I keep understanding it more, it's very difficult, and even for me who is in the sport since three-years-old, I did not expect that much of a step from Formula 2 to Formula 1.
"I definitely keep my confidence growing; Now we have to take what we have learned here and look to continue on this positive path for the next couple of races."
