Charles Leclerc has had an alright few days, hasn’t he? Promoted to drive for Ferrari for next season and still only 20, Leclerc is living the dream for many of us. However, he knows that the real hard work has to start now if he is to cement his place at Ferrari.
It won’t be easy for the Monegasque driver, who will become team mates with one of the best drivers of the modern era in Sebastian Vettel and will be expected to go wheel to wheel with the top drivers in the field and regularly top or challenge the podium positions.
However, Leclerc has the talent and temperament to succeed, as shown with his almost seamless transition into Formula One after dominating the F2 championship last year.
Leclerc admits that he needs to show his true talent in the Ferrari car if he is to be seen as a good driver at Maranello.
He said: "I definitely need to deliver. I have had a very good season this year where I have learned the most of it and next year I have to perform in a big team.
“I still have to learn a lot of things but I will be a lot ready than this year.
“My target is to go do the best job I have with the car. I think this year they have the best car and a chance to win the title and if next year is the same then it will be the same, to win the title, and that will be a big thing, but I will have to grow a lot as a driver and take the best results possible.”
