Charles Leclerc has admitted that the team didn't get the start to the season they were hoping for after such a positive result in the winter testing. The 22-year-old finished fourth in the constructors' standings in his first full season at
Ferrari.
"It was a somewhat strange season. We definitely didn't get the start that we expected after the winter tests. Because it went very well there, but we had a hard time in the first race," Leclerc was quoted by Speedweek.com.
"After that, we made good progress. Austin was also a somewhat strange race.
"We still don't really understand why we are so far away. Overall, it was a positive season - apart from the first race in Melbourne, which was very negative.
Leclerc secured his first-ever race victories in 2019, winning at both Spa and Monza and managed to finish the season ahead of his teammate
Sebastian Vettel.
