Lewis Hamilton tells fans not to blame drivers for "boring" Formula 1 races

The 2019 Formula 1 French Grand Prix wasn't a spectacle. The event came alive in the final two or three laps when Lando Norris had his problems, and when Charles Leclerc had a chance to overtake Valtteri Bottas. Other than that, the race was rather boring.

Lewis Hamilton, who stormed to victory on Sunday, asks the fans not to blame the Formula 1 drivers for boring races. The world championship leader maintained Mercedes 100% win record in 2019. Only twice has a driver from outside the Mercedes garage stepped on the podium to receive the 2nd place trophy.

Hamilton might admit the races are boring, but he doesn't want to take the blame.

"We don't write the rules. We have nothing to do with the money shift [between teams] and all that stuff. You should put the pressure on the people that are at the head, that should be doing the job," Hamilton reported in the press conference after the race.

Ignoring the Canadian Grand Prix penalty, Hamilton had a battle with Sebastian Vettel. The five-time world champion enjoyed this and was keen to point it out in his mini-rant. He also calls up ex-boss Bernie Ecclestone.

"Those are the races that generally people enjoy most. These ones [the French GP] are not the ones people enjoy most. I think it's important for people to realise it's not the drivers' fault. This is a constant cycle of F1 for years and years and years, even before I got to F1," he added.
